Story by Aifheli Mudau

The handover takeover parade of the Imbizo Barracks command in Bulawayo was held this Tuesday at a colourful ceremony where the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) officers showcased their skills through drills and other displays.

The parade saw Colonel Collen Ncube taking over as commander Bulawayo District from Colonel Osslie Ollie Mhandu.

The two army officers spoke highly about peace as a conduit for development.

“Together we need to create an atmosphere that is conducive for development without leaving anyone behind,” said Colonel Mhandu.

“It is our collective responsibility to develop Zimbabwe so that it realises it’s full potential,” said Colonel Ncube.

Guest of Honour at the ceremony, Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe said appointments, handover and takeovers are done so that officers are exposed to diverse situations that make them versatile.

“The system of management help to develop officers into versatile and all round leaders capable of handling the over changing demands of the military profession.”

The Zimbabwe National Army has remained professional in maintaining peace and security both locally and in international missions.
