Bosso target to retain Uhuru Cup

Story by Mthokozisi Dube

BULAWAYO giants, Highlanders are not reading much on the woes in Dynamos camp ahead of the two sides’ showdown in the Uhuru Cup pencilled for Murambinda in Buhera this Thursday.

In another feat to accord every province an opportunity to witness the mouth-watering tie pitting the country’s biggest clubs Highlanders and Dynamos, all roads will lead to Murambinda for the titanic clash on neutral soil.

History favours Highlanders, who have won the Uhuru Cup twice on the trot but Bosso head coach Kelvin Kaindu is refusing to read much on their league and cup dominance over their bitter rivals.

“It is a new ball game altogether, we may have won it twice and beat them in the league but we should remain focused if we are to defend the cup. Cup finals are usually unpredictable, we have seen videos of the pitch and that will count in our game. We will plan for the game based on the conditions of the pitch.”

Newly appointed Highlanders chief executive officer, Sihlangu Dlodlo said it was not a coincidence that Highlanders are part of the Uhuru celebrations.

“Remember Highlanders was formed by going Lobengula’s grandson as a diversion to think it was football yet it was mobilisation. So we are happy as Highlanders to be participating in the celebrations. We will have a road show along the way as we seek to hype the game.”

The two teams will have road shows in Manicaland before the battle on Thursday.
