VETERAN actress, Charity Dlodlo, is proving her versatility from soap opera stardom to international theatre, with her transition now taking her onto the global stage, representing Zimbabwe at the Voila Festival in the United Kingdom.
Dlodlo, who has built an illustrious career spanning two decades, with acclaimed roles in films and television dramas, including in Studio 263, where she is widely remembered as Mai Madziva, has transitioned seamlessly into theatre.
The actress, who has managed acclaimed stage projects including Sinners, Zoom Wedding and Coming Home, is sailing with her one-woman play ‘Once an actress,’ selected for the prestigious Voila International Theatre Festival in London this November.
“Studio 263 really paved the way for me. It taught me professionalism, perseverance, and how to embody a character. That background has brought me here today. And now, to be on an international stage, I am not just representing myself, I am raising the Zimbabwean flag high.”
Her latest production delves into workplace power struggles and untold personal victories, themes she says resonate across cultures.
Dlodlo is known for acclaimed roles in productions including Legacies, Lobola, The Hero, where she starred alongside Ghanaian superstar Jackie Appiah and Nollywood actor Hakeem Kazim and several ZBC productions including Pedyo Kure and Vhunze.
Her screen work earned her multiple NAMA Awards, including for Studio 263 and Legacies.
