HARARE – FAMILY, friends and colleagues have described the late national hero, Cde Victor Kuretu as a humble and dedicated cadre who was passionate about the upliftment of livelihoods.

Humble, loving, kind-hearted and strong willed, these are some of the words used by family, friends and colleagues to describe Cde Kuretu as they paid their last respects to the gallant son who was interred at the National Shrine this Thursday.

It was an emotional moment for the Kuretu family as they said their final goodbyes to one of their own, whom they described as a loving man who cared for his family.

“This acknowledgment is a lasting reminder that a life lived for others leaves a mark. We thank you for the honour you have bestowed on us as a family. We will ensure that his legacy is not lost,” daughter to the national hero, Mrs Precious Kuretu-Mtisi said.

Colleagues who include Harare Metropolitan Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tawengwa, appreciated the political contributions made by Cde Kuretu, who served his nation during the liberation struggle and post-independence.

“He has left a mark that cannot be erased. We worked well together for a long time in Mufakose, and he made immense contributions. I am glad that he lived to see Zimbabwe become a better country,” Harare Metropolitan Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tavengwa stated.

“I am happy that he has been given this honour because he deserves it. He played his role in ZIPEDRA to the best of his abilities. He was a humble man who stood for the truth,” another colleague added.

Although yet another hero is gone, Zimbabweans who gathered at the National Shrine celebrated a life well-lived, acknowledging the valuable contributions and sacrifices that Cde Kuretu made to liberate this country and shape its future.
