CAPS United has appointed former Makepekepe midfielder Ian Bakala as the club’s new head coach.
In a statement released this Wednesday, CAPS United unveiled Bakala as the new coach, with Alexio Sigion set to deputise him.
Bakala is a former Green Machine midfielder, having played for the club between 2004 and 2005 when the team won several prestigious titles including the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, the Buddie Challenge Cup, and the ZIFA Unity Cup.
The new setup comes after the club parted ways with the previous technical team, with former coach Lloyd Chitembwe being redeployed as Technical Director, replacing Shakespeare Chinogwenya.
Bakala brings in a wealth of coaching experience to the role, having previously coached the Zambia Under-17 national team and Zambian clubs which include Forest Rangers, Nkana and Lusaka Dynamos.
Bakala is expected to guide Makepekepe to success with the team currently struggling and sitting on the 15th position on the PSL log.
Bakala’s appointment is seen as a masterstroke, and fans are eagerly awaiting his debut on the bench when the Greem Machine takes on Herentals at Rufaro Stadium this Saturday.
