THE 116th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show will be held from August 24 to 29 under the theme, “Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge.”

Speaking during a media briefing in Harare this Thursday, Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) Chief Executive Officer Mr Rufaro Alfred Gunundu said this year’s event will bring together farmers, agribusinesses, researchers, technology providers and policymakers to promote sustainable agricultural production, strengthen value chains and drive economic growth.

Mr Gunundu said exhibitor numbers have increased compared to last year’s edition, while improvements have also been recorded in the quality and variety of livestock on display.

“The number of exhibitors has increased compared to last year, as well as livestock: rabbits, cattle, goats and so on. There is an improvement in terms of breeds compared to last year.

“We have also tried to reduce the queue at the gate as there will be scan codes whereby you just buy your ticket online and then you find it easy at the entry gate,” he said.

Organisers say the introduction of digital ticketing is expected to improve visitor convenience by reducing congestion at entry points, while the exhibition will provide a platform for showcasing innovation and strengthening linkages between agriculture, technology and commerce.
