Hamstring injury forces Milton Shumba out of India T20 Series

Story by Lawrence Trusida, sports editor

ZIMBABWE have suffered an early blow ahead of the three-match T20 International series against India after batter Milton Shumba was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Scans confirmed the 25-year-old left-hander sustained a right hamstring injury, ruling him out of the entire series against the reigning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions.

Experienced top-order batter Innocent Kaia has been called up to replace Shumba ahead of this afternoon’s opening match at Harare Sports Club.

Kaia returns to Zimbabwe’s T20 International squad for the first time since featuring against India at the same venue in July 2024.

He is expected to strengthen the Chevrons’ batting line-up as Zimbabwe seek a strong start against the world champions.
