THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland Football Club have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the national broadcaster air live the club’s historic Toyota Cup clash against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The partnership is expected to broaden access to one of the biggest regional football fixtures, allowing fans across Zimbabwe and beyond to follow the match live.

Scottland will face Kaizer Chiefs at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in South Africa on July 26 in a match expected to showcase regional football talent and strengthen sporting ties between Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, ZBC Chief Executive Officer Mr Sugar Chagonda said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to promoting sport and expanding access to premium football content.

“Partnerships of this nature enable us to expand access to premium sporting content, showcase local talent on bigger platforms and enhance the visibility of Zimbabwean sport.

“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to excellence and our belief in the power of sport to unite people, inspire communities and strengthen regional ties,” he said.

Scottland Football Club spokesperson Mr George Munengwa said the partnership would enable the club’s supporters at home and abroad to follow the team’s progress.

“We are excited about this partnership. ZBC has the widest broadcasting reach in the country and, with its digital platforms, our supporters across the world will also be able to follow our matches,” he said.

ZBC Director of Marketing Mr Fredius Dzumbunu said the broadcaster’s television, radio and digital platforms would ensure supporters do not miss the action.

“Our platforms will provide supporters across the world with access to the match, while those who miss the live broadcast will be able to catch up through our digital services,” he said.

Scottland captain Walter Musona said the players were looking forward to representing Zimbabwe on the regional stage.

“We are excited that our supporters from across the world will have the opportunity to watch us as we represent Zimbabwe in this historic match,” he said.

Beyond the Toyota Cup, the partnership will also cover Scottland’s CAF Champions League campaign, further strengthening collaboration between ZBC and the reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions.

The agreement is expected to enhance the visibility of Zimbabwean football through expanded television, radio and digital coverage
