THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) on Thursday accorded Air Commodore (Retired) Peter Samuel Ngulu full military honours during a funeral parade at Manyame Air Force Base in Harare, in recognition of his distinguished service to the nation.
Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe, Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede, officiated as chief mourner during the parade for Air Commodore (Retired) Ngulu, who died on July 6 at the age of 81 following an illustrious military career.
Paying tribute, Air Marshal Nzvede said the late Air Commodore’s exemplary service earned him several national honours and decorations.
“In recognition of his exemplary and dedicated service to the nation, the late Air Commodore received numerous honours and decorations, including the Independence Medal, the Long and Exemplary Service Medal, and the Mozambique Campaign Medal. These accolades reflect a lifetime of distinguished service, courage and loyalty to the nation,” he said.
Air Marshal Nzvede said Air Commodore (Retired) Ngulu also played a significant role in mentoring generations of officers who continue to serve the Air Force of Zimbabwe.
“Those who had the privilege of working with Air Commodore (Retired) Ngulu will remember him as a disciplined, hardworking and dedicated officer. Throughout his career, he held several key appointments, and his outstanding performance contributed significantly to the growth and professionalism of the Air Force of Zimbabwe,” he said.
Air Commodore (Retired) Peter Samuel Ngulu is survived by five children.
He will be buried at his farm in Beatrice on Friday
