ZIMBABWE will host the Confederation of Schools Sport for Southern Africa (COSSASA) Games from 26 August to 3 September in Bulawayo after stepping in to stage the regional competition.
Zimbabwe took over hosting duties after South Africa was unable to stage the tournament, ensuring the annual schools’ sporting festival goes ahead.
The event returns to Bulawayo, which last hosted the regional competition in 2024.
COSSASA President Arthur Maphosa welcomed Zimbabwe’s intervention, saying it had rescued the tournament after uncertainty over the host nation threatened the event.
Maphosa said organisers had also drawn up a tentative programme to avoid a clash with the National Youth Games, which are scheduled for Marondera next month.
Hosts Zimbabwe will compete alongside Eswatini, Lesotho, South Africa and Namibia in the multi-sport tournament.
