THE Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team will look to bounce back when they face Pakistan women’s national cricket team in a three-match T20 International series starting this Tuesday at the National Bank Stadium.
The T20I series follows a difficult ODI campaign in which Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash over the Lady Chevrons.
The hosts secured victories by 168 runs and 206 runs in the opening two matches before sealing the series with a nine-wicket win in the third ODI on Saturday.
Despite the setback, the switch to the shortest format is expected to provide Zimbabwe with an opportunity to regroup and compete more effectively.
The Lady Chevrons struggled against Pakistan’s powerful batting line-up in the ODI series, where the hosts posted imposing totals of 330/5 and 343/4 in the first two encounters.
However, Zimbabwe will be hoping the faster pace and unpredictability of T20 cricket can help narrow the gap against the more experienced hosts.
The shorter format is viewed as better suited to Zimbabwe’s aggressive approach and athletic fielding, factors the team will aim to maximise during the series.
The matches also form part of preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with both sides expected to use the series to assess combinations and build momentum ahead of the global tournament.
For Pakistan, the series offers an opportunity to maintain their strong form and test squad depth, while Zimbabwe will be seeking to restore confidence and gain valuable experience during their historic first tour of Pakistan.

Lady Chevrons shifts to T20

THE Zimbabwe women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, will be hoping for a fresh start when they switch formats for the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi this Tuesday.
The T20I series comes on the heels of a bruising ODI campaign that saw Pakistan complete a dominant 3-0 whitewash.
The hosts won the first ODI by 168 runs, the second by a staggering 206 runs, and wrapped up the series with a nine-wicket victory in the third match on Saturday.
For Zimbabwe, the shift to the shortest format offers both opportunity and challenge.
While the ODI series exposed a significant gulf in class with Pakistan posting totals of 330/5 and 343/4 in the first two matches, the T20 format has traditionally been where the Lady Chevrons feel more competitive.
The compressed nature of T20 cricket allows their naturally aggressive style and athletic fielding to come to the fore, potentially levelling the playing field against more established opponents.
The T20I series also carries significant context beyond this tour.
With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon, both teams will be using these matches to fine-tune their preparations.
For Pakistan, the series represents a chance to maintain momentum and test squad depth after their commanding ODI performance, while for Zimbabwe, it is an opportunity to salvage pride from their historic first tour to Pakistan and gather valuable experience against high-quality opposition.
