THE Zimbabwe Tertiary Sports (ZITS) Games have gathered momentum at Harare Polytechnic in Harare, with student-athletes delivering vibrant competition across football, basketball, tennis and volleyball as the national showcase of tertiary sport continues.

Now in full swing following Wednesday’s official opening, the tournament has transformed the capital into a hub of student sport, with participants seizing the platform to demonstrate skill, discipline and emerging talent.

Athletes competing in the games described the event as a critical development pathway, offering exposure and opportunities beyond campus sport.

“The competition is not only helping us grow in sport, but is also opening doors for exposure, networking, and possible selection into higher-level competitions,” a participant said.

“The games promote unity, discipline, and teamwork among us students,” a student said

“We began preparations during preseason, with months of training and teamwork now giving us confidence and readiness to compete at this year’s Zimbabwe Tertiary Sports Games,” an athlete said.

The ZITS games officially opened on Wednesday and will run until Saturday at various venues in the capital, where Harare Polytechnic is serving as the main host institution.

The annual competition brings together athletes from tertiary institutions to compete in different sporting codes while promoting youth development and talent identification.
