THE Grain Marketing Board has disbursed over US$32 million and more than ZiG296 million to farmers for grain deliveries, marking significant progress in settling payments for the current marketing season.

GMB Operations Director Mr Patrick Muzvimbiri confirmed that the payments represent the bulk of dues owed to farmers, with outstanding balances steadily being cleared.

“The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) is delighted to announce that it has made cumulative payments of US$32 388 822.03, representing 88% and ZWG 296 361 565.17, accounting for 83% total payments to farmers,” he said.

He added that remaining balances stand at just over US$4.3 million and ZiG61.8 million, representing 12% and 17% respectively.

“This vital funding by the Treasury brings much-needed relief to farmers. The support underscores the Government’s steadfast commitment to agriculture, a key sector driving Zimbabwe’s economy,” said Mr Muzvimbiri.

The GMB said it remains committed to working closely with farmers to enhance productivity and ensure national grain self-sufficiency, as timely payments continue to play a critical role in supporting the agricultural sector.
