VETERAN Zimbabwean entrepreneur, Kubi Chaza Indi, has launched her memoir, chronicling a 45-year journey that saw her become one of the country’s earliest black female business pioneers in the beauty and cosmetics industry.
The book, titled ‘Kubi, A Trendsetter’s Story of Entrepreneurship Against All Odds’ was unveiled this week, offering a personal account of her life, from childhood and family experiences to building a cosmetics brand that has remained a household name in Zimbabwe.
Mrs Chaza Indi rose to prominence at a time when career opportunities for women were largely limited to professions such as teaching and nursing. Defying those expectations, she began producing cosmetics from her garage, laying the foundation for a brand that would later gain nationwide recognition.
Trained as an esthetician in the United Kingdom, she established herself as a trusted figure in Zimbabwe’s beauty industry, with her cosmetic products still widely available in retail outlets across the country.
Her memoir also explores other aspects of her career, including her work in the arts. Mrs Chaza Indi appeared alongside Jesse Mungoshi in the acclaimed Zimbabwean film Neria, where she played the role of the protagonist’s close friend.
She also featured in the films I Am The Future and Shaina, the latter gaining international exposure through the streaming platform Netflix.
Beyond business and acting, Mrs Chaza Indi, has been active in philanthropy through the Our Children Our Future Trust, which focuses on supporting community initiatives.
Her newly launched memoir provides insights into the challenges and milestones that shaped her entrepreneurial journey, while offering guidance to aspiring businesspeople and readers interested in Zimbabwe’s social and economic history.
