PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa is attending the ED UNZA fundraising dinner, which is underway in Harare.
The ED–UNZA Scholarship Programme assists underprivileged and orphaned learners who excel academically at secondary school, enabling them to pursue university education through scholarship support.
Since its establishment, the programme has primarily supported students to study law at the University of Zambia.
President Dr Mnangagwa, the patron of the scholarship initiative, is an alumnus of the institution, where he obtained his law degree.
Over the years, the programme has broadened its scope to fund students at local universities, with some beneficiaries pursuing fields such as medicine.
Business leaders and corporate representatives have turned out in significant numbers to support the initiative, contributing towards the scholarship fund as part of efforts to expand educational opportunities for talented but disadvantaged learners.
Organisers say the funds raised will help sustain the programme and support more students in accessing higher education.
