VICE President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga this Thursday, continued his assessment of development projects in Masvingo Province with a visit to the Zimbabwe Zhongxin Chrome Smelting Company.
The visit forms part of the Vice President’s ongoing programme to review and monitor major investment projects across the province, as the government intensifies efforts to accelerate industrialisation and value addition in the mining sector.
During the tour, Vice President Dr Chiwenga inspected operations at the chrome smelting facility and received updates on its contribution to industrial growth and economic development in the region.
The Zimbabwe Zhongxin Chrome Smelting plant, established under the Second Republic, is one of the strategic investments aimed at boosting mineral beneficiation and industrialisation through the processing of chrome ore into high-value ferrochrome.
The company has been expanding its operations by increasing smelting capacity and upgrading infrastructure to enhance production efficiency, while also creating employment opportunities for communities in and around Masvingo.
