ZANU PF affiliate groups have rallied behind the proposed Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, citing it as a critical step towards propelling the national development agenda.
The ruling party’s affiliates highlighted that the proposed legislation is beneficial for the country going forward, considering the current state of development being spearheaded across the country by the Second Republic under the leadership of President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“As Miners for Economic Development, we welcome the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill that the President’s term be extended. It is beyond any reasonable doubt what the President has achieved. Since the President got into power, indigenous people have been empowered in the mining sector,” Miners4ED Spokesperson, Cde Dru Edmund Kucherera said.
“As ZimSports4ED, we are 100% behind the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill. We are grateful that the Bill is going to bring a lot of joy to the sporting fraternity, especially our youngsters who have been affected by drug abuse. We are also going to benefit from infrastructure development and financial support, as has been the norm under the Second Republic,” Cde Zendani Chauke of ZimSports4ED weighed in.
“The stance we are gathered here for is our agreement on the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill. We do not view this Bill as a general document; it is a development strategy. By supporting this Bill, we are choosing stability over chaos. The addition of two more years to the bill allows policies to bear fruit and allows implementation of strategies set upon Vision 2030 to manifest because the term will be longer. The Bill will also ensure that the economic projects currently empowering women youth in various sectors are not interrupted by premature shifts,” Sisters4ED’s Provincial Spokesperson Cde Nyasha Takayedza added.
Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill proposes several legal reforms, including extending the President and Parliament’s terms from five to seven years and introducing a parliamentary process for electing the President.
