ZIMBABWE’S impressive International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup campaign is beginning to yield individual rewards, with Brian Bennett surging into the top tier of the T20I batting rankings after climbing six places to number 11 in the world.
Bennett’s rise reflects the impact he made during Zimbabwe’s historic run to the Super Eight stage at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where the young opener delivered several outstanding performances at the top of the order.
The latest update to the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings sees Bennett move up six places, placing him just outside the global top 10 and making him the highest-ranked Zimbabwean batsman on the list.
The 22-year-old is currently the only Zimbabwean player inside the top 40 of the batting standings, underlining the significance of his breakthrough tournament on the world stage.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza is the next best placed Chevrons player, placed at number 43, while Ryna Burl on 98, completes the list of Zimbabweans in the top 100.
At the summit of the rankings, Abhishek Sharma of India continues to hold the number one position, while Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has climbed into second place.
England’s Phil Salt has dropped into third position in the latest standings.
