A 43-year-old man has appeared in court after he was allegedly found in possession of copper cables belonging to TelOne weighing 28 kilogrammes.
Erico Nyaira appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court this Thursday facing a charge of illegal possession of copper cables.
It is alleged that on January 29, Nyaira parked his black Toyota Fun Cargo vehicle along Kambuzuma Road near the Grain Marketing Board Aspindale depot while carrying 28 kilogrammes of burnt TelOne copper cables.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department reportedly received information that the suspect was in possession of the copper cables, leading to a search of the vehicle.
Prosecutors allege that the accused failed to produce a certificate of origin for the cables, resulting in his arrest.
Nyaira was remanded in custody when he appeared in court this Thursday.
