ZIMBABWE’S senior men’s cricket team, the Chevrons, are returning home after the International Cricket Council secured alternative travel arrangements following flight disruptions in India.
The Chevrons had completed their fixtures at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Sunday but were unable to depart as scheduled due to political tensions in the Gulf region, which affected several international flight routes, resulting in delays and cancellations.
Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that the squad will return in batches after the ICC intervened to facilitate revised travel plans.
The first group of players departed India on Wednesday, while the final contingent is expected to leave Delhi on Friday afternoon.
Team officials indicate that the staggered departures are designed to accommodate limited seat availability on available commercial routes, as airlines adjust schedules in response to ongoing regional instability.
Despite the logistical setback, the focus now shifts to the domestic calendar, with players expected to rejoin their franchises and national training programmes upon arrival.
