THE Zimbabwe national rugby union team, the Sables, have secured a mobility partnership with CFAO Mobility as preparations intensify for international fixtures leading to the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Under the arrangement, the Sables have received three vehicles and a team bus to support logistics ahead of test matches scheduled for July and November.
The vehicles will be used by the technical team and general manager for operational duties, while the bus will cater for player transport locally and during regional travel.
“We felt this is the right time to support the team that is going to represent the country at the World cup, they need mobility and we have come to provide that so that players are carried from point A to point B without any challenges,” said CFAO Mobility Managing Director Carl Varga.
Sables General Manager Takunda ‘TJ’ Chifokoyo said the partnership would enhance player welfare and streamline preparations.
“The welfare of the team is of utmost importance, players and coaches need mobility and this helps the players moved from home to training and to matches without any fuss, so we are grateful for their support and their goes along way in ensuring that we produce good results a lot of work goes behind,” he said.
Head coach Pieter Benade welcomed the development, highlighting the demands of scouting and travel.
“I am happy we travel a lot, especially away from match days, to watch players across the country, scouting, and a lot of work behind the scenes, so now this means that side is catered for, we do not have to worry, and we move on to the next phase,” he said.
Locally based players are set to face Botswana and Zambia in April, while the full squad is expected to assemble for the Victoria Cup and June test matches as the World Cup build-up gathers pace.
