SENEGAL head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw has been suspended for five official CAF matches by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after incidents during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) final.
CAF’s Disciplinary Board ruled this Wednesday that Thiaw breached principles of fair play and integrity, bringing the game into disrepute.
He was also fined US$100 000.
Two Senegal players, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, were each handed two-match suspensions for unsporting behaviour towards the referee.
The Sénégalaise Football Fédération (FSF) was fined US$300 000 for the misconduct of its supporters and a further US$300 000 for the unsporting conduct of players and technical staff, with an additional US$15 000 for multiple cautions.
Morocco were also sanctioned, with captain Achraf Hakimi suspended for two matches, while Ismaël Saibari received a three-match ban and a US$100 000 fine.
The Royal Morroco Football Federation (FRMF) was fined US$315 000 for incidents including interference with VAR procedures, inappropriate behaviour by ball boys and use of lasers by supporters.
CAF also rejected a protest by Morocco against Senegal relating to alleged regulatory violations during the final, bringing the disciplinary process to a close.
