ZIMBABWE has been eliminated from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier following a five-wicket defeat to Scotland this Thursday.

Batting first, Zimbabwe struggled against a disciplined Scotland bowling attack and were dismissed for 101 runs, a total Scotland comfortably chased to secure victory and end Zimbabwe’s qualification hopes.

Modester Mupachikwa top-scored with an unbeaten 30 off 40 balls, while Chiedza Dhururu chipped in with 22 off 20.

Lack of partnerships, however, proved costly as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Zimbabwe responded with a spirited effort in the field, with Loreen Tshuma leading the bowling attack after claiming three wickets to briefly raise hopes of a comeback.

Scotland, however, maintained their composure in the run chase, reaching the target inside 14 overs with five wickets in hand.

It was Scotland’s first win at the tournament, which ended Zimbabwe’s chances of advancing to the Super Six, bringing the Lady Chevrons’ campaign to a premature end.
