PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has taken time to deal with emergency situations in and outside the country.
Confirming the development to the media in Harare this Thursday, the Deputy Chief Secretary Presidential Communications in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Mr George Charamba said President Mnangagwa is directing the national response to climate related disasters in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique which have been devastated by floods.
Mr Charamba said President Mnangagwa has directed the Civil Protection Unit to be on high alert, supported by all ancillary agencies that include the army, police and government departments to deal with all anticipated weather disasters in the country.
Government has also mobilised 50 tonnes of grain for each province as a contingence measure in case of an emergency during the current rainy season.
In terms of assisting neighbouring countries affected by floods, Mr Charamba confirmed that President Mnangagwa has mobilised resources such as food and helicopters to help in the evacuation process in Mozambique and Malawi.
