ZIMBABWE national team defender Emmanuel Jalai has completed a move to South African Premiership side Durban City, signing for the Betway Premiership outfit in a transfer that marks a significant milestone in his professional career.
The 26-year-old right-back joins Durban City after spending six seasons with Dynamos, where he developed into one of the Harare giants’ most reliable performers. During his time at DeMbare, Jalai earned a reputation for consistency and leadership, culminating in him captaining the club to Chibuku Super Cup glory last season.
Jalai’s move comes on the back of his growing profile on the international stage. He was part of the Warriors squad that represented Zimbabwe at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, an experience that further enhanced his credentials.
At Durban City, Jalai is expected to add experience and defensive solidity as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season. He will work under newly appointed head coach Sinethemba Badela, with the team currently placed eighth on the league standings.
The transfer also signals a new chapter for the former Dynamos captain as he seeks to establish himself in one of Africa’s most competitive domestic leagues and secure regular top-flight football.
Durban City, formerly known as Maritzburg United, rebranded two years ago and have since been rebuilding with an eye on long-term stability and competitiveness in the South African Premiership.
For Jalai, the move represents both recognition of his steady rise and an opportunity to further his career while remaining in contention for national team selection with the Warriors.
