RENOVATION works at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals are progressing steadily, with patients and medical staff expressing appreciation for Government’s efforts to rehabilitate and modernise public health institutions.
In June 2025, President Emmerson Mnangagwa conducted an unannounced visit to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Sally Mugabe Central Hospital to assess the prevailing conditions at the country’s major referral facilities.
Following the visit, Government launched the Presidential Hospital Renovation Programme, an initiative that is now yielding visible results at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Under the programme, major refurbishment works are being undertaken at Adlam House, nurses’ accommodation facilities and Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Ward by Prevail Group, with the project now at an advanced stage.
“The project is 99% complete, we have delivered a state-of-the-art facility which is going to help a lot of people,” Prevail International’s Public Relations Officer, Tariro Dondo stated.
Doctors at Parirenyatwa say they attend to approximately 3 400 patients a day, and the patients themselves are excited about government efforts.
“We are happy with the renovations and the service I got here was top notch, we are getting closer to Vision 2030,” a patient said.
Speaking after an impromptu visit to the hospital this Thursday, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora said Adlam House is almost complete.
“After touring, l can say Adlam House is 99% complete, what is just left is cleaning up and we should be good to go.”
Initially, Adlam House had just above 350 rooms, which have now been increased 369, a swimming pool for the students and Mbuya Nehanda Maternity is also being modernised. All this is testament to government walking the talk on national development.
