POLICE investigations into a suspected serial murder case have widened after three more bodies, believed to be victims of Anymore Zvitsva, were exhumed at Sahondo Farm in Guruve District, Mashonaland Central Province.

The latest development follows indications made by Zvitsva, who is currently in police custody, linking him to several unresolved cases of missing persons in the area. The discoveries have brought renewed anguish to affected families, while also shedding light on cases that had remained unresolved for months.

ZBC News visited the Sahondo homestead in Nyakapupu, Guruve District, where it was confirmed that the remains of 20-year-old Charity Chidhawu and her three-year-old son, Tendai Sahondo, were recovered from shallow graves on Saturday. The pair had been reported missing on March 24 last year.

According to information gathered at the scene, the suspect confessed to the killings during police questioning and subsequently led investigators to the burial site, where the bodies were exhumed in the presence of law enforcement officers.

The discovery has deeply affected the local community, with residents describing the incident as shocking and distressing. For the families of the deceased, the exhumations have marked a painful end to months of uncertainty over the fate of their loved ones.

Police have also linked Zvitsva to another unresolved murder case involving an elderly woman identified as Mbuya Nyambuvi, whose disappearance and death had previously remained unexplained. Investigators believe she may also be among the suspect’s victims, although formal confirmation is still pending.

Authorities have indicated that further details surrounding the cases remain restricted, as the suspect is still undergoing indications and police investigations are ongoing. Law enforcement officials say the priority remains establishing the full extent of the crimes and ensuring that all victims are accounted for.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged the public to remain calm and allow investigations to proceed, assuring communities that due process will be followed as the matter unfolds.
