THE Zimbabwe African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) draft report validation workshop has commenced in Masvingo, marking a key step in the country’s peer review process.

The workshop is reviewing assessments made by the APRM delegation that visited Zimbabwe from November 3 to 18.

The targeted review by the continental body focuses on the progress Zimbabwe has made in the area of economic governance and management, including key clusters such as the promotion of macroeconomic policies that support sustainable development.

Other areas under review include the implementation of transparent, predictable and credible economic policies, as well as the promotion of sound public finance management aimed at combating corruption and money laundering.

Once the validation process is complete, the final report will be submitted to President Emmerson Mnangagwa ahead of the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government, scheduled to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
