A new ZANU PF affiliate group, Ama2K4ED, has been launched, with youths born in the new millennium pledging to actively contribute to national development.
Ama2K4ED, representing the generation born after the year 2000, officially joined the Economic Development movement following the launch of the affiliate group in Harare on Thursday.
The glamorous occasion where the youths rallied behind President Emmerson Mnangagwas’ vision 2030 was graced by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Tino Machakaire, who pledged take on board the ama2K4ED to become a vehicle for youths’ empowerment.
“We are happy with such innovativeness by the youths of this generation. It is very key to national development, but as they have said, the bulk of them are facing challenges of employment, so my ministry mandate is to make sure that I create job opportunities and empower this generation to become self-sustaining. So as we march towards NDS 2, I have taken their concerns, and I will make sure that I will incorporate them as we implement the new national blueprint,”| he said.
Founder of the Ama2K4ED, Malachi Mamutse, said the formation of the group was driven by the need to bridge the gap between the young and the old in the quest to achieve Vision 2030.
“We have decided from this affiliate as the young generation feels we have a big role to play to support the vision of our President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa. He is a listening leader who is creating avenues for us to penetrate – so our affiliation will bridge the gap between the Ama2K and the old generation,” he said.
Over US$ 700 000 was raised during the launch of the affiliate group, with the youth leadership tasked with taking the gospel of Ama2K4ED to all the country’s provinces.
