ZANU PF Matabeleland South provincial leadership on Wednesday convened a grassroots feedback meeting in Lushongwe, Gwanda North, as part of an ongoing outreach programme to brief party structures on resolutions adopted at the 22nd National People’s Conference held in Mutare in October.
The engagement formed part of the ruling party’s province-wide exercise to consolidate internal communication and reinforce its connection with grassroots members.
Addressing party supporters, ZANU PF Matabeleland South Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Washington Nkomo, said the party remained united behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa, citing his leadership and performance.
“As ZANU PF, we are rallying behind President Mnangagwa because of his workmanship. That is why we are saying that the President should continue,” Cde Nkomo said.
The gathering also took on a humanitarian dimension, with local councillor, Cde Mozitha Moyo, distributing food hampers to elderly members of the community ahead of the festive season.
“Since 1987, this area has never lost an election, and I have brought Christmas hampers for the party members in recognition of their loyalty,” he said.
“We are grateful to our leaders for remembering us.
“This is our party, and we will always support it,” ZANU PF members said.
The Matabeleland South provincial leadership is expected to continue similar outreach programmes across all constituencies, as it concludes its feedback campaign on the outcomes of the National People’s Conference.
