ZANU PF first secretary and President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on the ZANU PF Central Committee to intensify the implementation of key national policies saying the party’s programmes are driving socio-economic growth, strengthening grassroot structures and laying the foundation for achieving Vision 2030.
Addressing the 129th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee in Harare on Thursday, President Mnangagwa said the ruling party’s policy direction anchored on the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS-2) and the 2026 National Budget will transform communities and improve quality of life for the citizenry. He also urged senior party members to deepen coordination, supervision and communication of the Five-Year Plan across all structures.
“Our policies continue to transform the quality of life of our people. We are building our motherland, brick by brick, stone upon stone and step by step. I commend our farmers and stakeholders in the agriculture sector for yet another record-breaking harvest in the 2025 winter wheat cropping season. In addition, the break-through recorded in the development of seed varieties for the local cultivation of hard wheat, is applauded. Guided by the regular updates and information issued through the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, let us take advantage of the ongoing wet spell to produce more, for enhanced food and nutrition security at both household and national levels. The distribution of inputs, chemicals, fertilisers and other forms of support is ongoing and must reach all the rightful beneficiaries,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said economic reforms were yielding results, with growth for 2025 projected at 6.6 percent, adding that the improving business climate under the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra continued to attract domestic and international investors.
“On the macro-economic front, we are deepening fiscal discipline, while enhancing key enablers to consolidate ongoing economic growth and transformation. Through an array of measures, our 2025 economic growth is projected at 6.6 percent. In responding to our mantra “Zimbabwe is open for business”, the prevailing business operating environment and growing economy; it is encouraging that reputable domestic, continental and international entities are choosing our country as a safe investment destination,” he said.
Infrastructure development, particularly roadworks and major dam projects such as Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi, remained a strategic priority, he said. The progress on these constructions demonstrated ZANU PF’s commitment to transforming the economy and improving livelihoods.
“Infrastructure development, particularly road and dam. construction, remains one of our strategic priorities. The construction of key flag ship dams, which include Gwayi -Shangani and Kunzvi is progressing well. The levels completed to date, demonstrate the promise of ZANU PF to transform the economy and the livelihoods of our people,” he added.
The President urged members to engage communities more proactively and contribute solutions to local challenges while preparing them for upcoming investment projects. He also encouraged the party and the nation to welcome Zimbabweans returning home for the festive season and to share with them ongoing development programmes under the Second Republic.
“Equally, we must be proactive and harness opportunities at the community level for the collective good of our country. This meeting is the last Session of the Central Committee of the year. I thank you all for the unity and successes we realised throughout the year. During the festive season many of our people from the Diaspora will be home. I call upon the Party structures, as well as our nation at large, to be hospitable and use this holiday period to share with our Diaspora, the various policies, programmes and activities that we continue to undertake under the Second Republic,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said this year’s achievements, including progress recorded at the 22nd National People’s Conference, reflected unity and resilience within the party despite attempts by detractors and malcontents. He stressed the need for continued hard work as the country moves into 2026, saying unity and discipline remained essential to achieving development milestones.
“This meeting is being held after the successful holding of the 22nd National People’s Conference. I once again congratulate us all for the manner in which we acquitted ourselves as a revolutionary and yet forward-looking organisation, with a vision and clarity for the future of our nation. We all have a reason to be proud of our achievements, not only in relation to the outcomes and resolutions of the Conference, but also the unity, focus and resilience we displayed during the course of this year. This was against the backdrop of some machinations by detractors and malcontents,” President Mnangagwa said.
