THE inaugural Session of the Zimbabwe-Zambia Bi-National Commission (BNC) has entered day two, with ministers from both countries meeting in Harare to advance discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Ministerial Meeting follows the Senior Officials’ Meeting, which was co-chaired by the Secretaries responsible for Foreign Affairs and Trade from Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The two-day engagement is aimed at reviewing progress on existing agreements and exploring new areas of collaboration in trade, investment, infrastructure development, energy, and social cooperation.

The elevation of the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation between the two countries to a BNC reaffirms the historic fraternal bond forged through shared struggles and triumphs by the sister nations and their commitment to work together towards a common future of shared prosperity.

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema is expected in the country this Friday, where he will join his counterpart, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in co-chairing the Inaugural Session of the Zimbabwe-Zambia Bi-National Commission (BNC).

According to Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honourable Mulambo Haimbe, the visit also highlights the deep and enduring bonds of friendship, shared history and mutual respect that unite Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The two countries are also bound by geography, culture, and shared assets such as the Kariba Dam, Victoria Falls, and critical transport infrastructure central to the socio-economic progress of both countries.
