THE Mabvuku community is bursting with excitement as their club, Scottland FC, edges closer to writing a piece of history, just inches away from lifting the Premier Soccer League title.
It’s the word on everyone’s lips in Mabvuku, from street corners to tuckshops.
This Saturday’s crucial 1-0 victory over fierce rivals MWOS at Rufaro Stadium not only kept their dream alive but also ignited hope in the heart of Mabvuku.
“The title belongs to Mabvuku; it is ours, and Simba Bhora is nowhere near it. Let’s go, Mabviravira! It is coming to Mabvuku for sure, and very soon we will be flying to play in the CAF Champions League. We are very excited, and we are hoping that next season, as champions, Mabvuku will be able to host different giants from across the country. We are soon to have our own stadium, and glory belongs to us. We are ready to lift the title. We will certainly lift it, given where we are at,” a Scottland FC fan said.
The win, courtesy of a magical combination between Walter and Knowledge Musona, gave Scottland a six-point cushion over Simba Bhora, making them firm favourites with just three games to go.
Scottland has stated that the club is a community project tailored to satisfy the passion of the Mabvuku faithful.
“The Mabvuku people are already celebrating and also looking to us to complete our stadium. They really want us, next season, to use the Mabvuku Stadium as our home,” Scottland Vice Chairman, Beadle Gwasira, noted.
“Our community’s support has been incredible. We are not just playing for points; we are playing for the pride of Mabvuku. This title is within reach! The title is for the community. We are hoping to complete our stadium in time so that next season our home matches will be in Mabvuku, and nothing beats a home crowd,” Scottland Secretary-General, Fortune Bgwoni, added.
Scottland need just four points from a possible nine to lift the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship in their debut season.
