THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt following a gruesome triple murder that occurred at Chipato Syndicate Mine Compound in Chegutu on October 14.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police this Friday, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, only identified as ‘T-One’, was drinking beer at the compound in the company of the victims, Innocent Mudonhi (21), Honest Shumbamhini (20), and Conrad Shumbamhini (25) when the violent altercation ensued.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly drew a knife and stabbed Mudonhi once in the stomach, causing severe injuries with protruding intestines.
He allegedly went on to stab Honest Shumbamhini once on the stomach and once on the right hand, before turning to Conrad Shumbamhini, whom he stabbed once on the stomach, leaving the knife embedded in the victim’s body.
The suspect is said to have fled into the darkness, leaving the victims calling for help.
The victims were rushed to Chegutu District Hospital, where Mudonhi died upon admission, while the other two victims succumbed to the injuries on the 15th.
The latest incident comes at a time when the police is investigating a spate of murder cases countrywide, including that of Morgen Gwazira of Machingambi village in Chief Mugabe’s area of Masvingo, who allegedly axed his wife on Sunday.
Gwazira allegedly burnt the victim’s body before setting several houses on fire.
