Two arrested for impersonation at schools in Buhera and Bulawayo

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested two individuals in separate incidents over a two-day period for attempting to sit for public examinations on behalf of registered candidates in Buhera and Bulawayo.

The arrests highlight a continued police crackdown on exam fraud and impersonation as the public examination season begins.

The first incident occurred on Monday October 13 at Mukondomi Secondary School in Buhera where police arrested Brighton Chinhenga (26) after he was caught attempting to write Mathematics Paper 1 examination for another candidate.

The following day, police in Bulawayo made a second arrest in a similar case. ZRP Magwegwe detained Mavis Phiri (32) at Masotsha High School in Magwegwe North after she was caught attempting to sit for the Science Paper 1 examination on behalf of her sister.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Brighton Chinhenga (26) for a case of impersonation which occurred at Mukondomi Secondary School in Buhera on 13/10/25. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to sit for the Mathematics Paper 1 examination on behalf of another candidate. In a separate incident on 14/10/25, ZRP Magwegwe arrested Mavis Phiri (32) for a similar offence. She was caught attempting to sit for the Science Paper 1 examination on behalf of her sister at Masotsha High School in Magwegwe North, Bulawayo,” National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.
