ZIMBABWEAN conservationist, Advocate Ever Chinoda, has earned international recognition following her nomination for the prestigious Animal Action Awards happening in the United Kingdom this Thursday.
The founder and director of Speak Out For Animals, established in 2017, has been nominated for her groundbreaking work that includes introducing wildlife law at Great Zimbabwe University’s Herbert Chitepo Law School and developing a diploma in wildlife law and policy.
Advocate Chinoda’s impact extends across Zimbabwe’s justice system, having trained over 100 prosecutors, 80 investigators and police officers, and 20 magistrates in wildlife law, while developing rapid response guides for wildlife crime and lobbying for specialised wildlife courts.
Her conservation achievements also include successfully lobbying for the painted dog to be upgraded from a problem animal to a specially protected species, demonstrating her effective advocacy for Zimbabwe’s unique wildlife heritage.
The International Fund for Animal Welfare event at BAFTA Headquarters in London celebrates global leaders in animal welfare, with Advocate Chinoda standing among 140 nominees from 26 countries, representing Zimbabwe’s growing influence in international conservation efforts.
This nomination not only honours Advocate Chinoda’s individual achievements, but also highlights Zimbabwe’s commitment to wildlife protection and the development of legal frameworks that safeguard the country’s natural heritage for future generations.
