PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa this Friday presided over the fourth graduation ceremony of the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) at the institution’s Fernhill Campus in Mutare, where 198 graduands were capped.

The graduates, drawn from the faculties of Engineering, Applied Sciences and Technology, Agricultural Sciences and Environmental Sustainability, Agribusiness Management, and Applied Social Sciences, represent a new generation of skilled professionals equipped to drive Zimbabwe’s modernisation agenda.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda, said the institution’s mandate is to produce graduates who can lead the nation and apply innovation to drive Zimbabwe’s development.

“Research and innovation remain at the heart of our mission to equip students with knowledge and skills that contribute to national growth,” Professor Chawanda said.

Among the top achievers were Tamia Gwarada, who received the Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Award for being the overall best graduating student, and Wonder Chimano, who was equally recognised as an outstanding graduate.

President Mnangagwa, who serves as Chancellor of all state universities, has frequently emphasised the critical role of graduates in national development, noting that Zimbabwe’s tertiary institutions are key partners in unlocking the country’s economic potential.
