THE Manicaland ZANU-PF Women’s League has reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa, urging the urgent implementation of Resolution Number One from the 2024 ZANU-PF National People’s Conference, which proposes extending the President’s term of office to 2030.
With the ZANU-PF People’s National Conference scheduled to take place in Mutare from October 13 to 18, the provincial Women’s League has joined growing calls from within the party for the resolution to be swiftly adopted and actioned.
The resolution, passed at last year’s conference, seeks to provide continuity in leadership under President Mnangagwa’s stewardship, citing the need to consolidate ongoing developmental programmes aligned with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
The Manicaland Women’s League emphasised that extending the President’s term is necessary to ensure stability, policy consistency, and the completion of key national projects.
During an executive meeting, the wing’s provincial chairperson, Cde Dorothy Mabika, amplified the calls that are being made and have been captured as resolution number one by Manicaland province ahead of this year’s national people’s conference.
“Last year, we made a resolution that the President should remain in office until 2030. We made the resolution in December, and it has been almost a year now, after making the resolution, but we have yet to receive an update on its implementation. We are now going to another conference, and we are saying our resolution from last year should be implemented expeditiously. Those who should be involved from both the government and the party should act now. This is our unanimous position as the Women’s League in Manicaland,” she said.
As Mutare prepares to host the ZANU-PF People’s Conference, excitement is building in Manicaland, the host province, with the Women’s League expressing satisfaction with the ongoing preparations.
“We are happy with the preparations for the National People’s Conference to be held in Mutare, as we thank President Mnangagwa for the decision for Manicaland to host this year’s National People’s Conference. Manicaland is ready for the conference,” she added.
The ZANU PF Women’s League is convinced resolution number one reflects the grassroots confidence in President Mnangagwa’s leadership, citing infrastructure development and empowerment programmes, particularly those targeting women and youths.
