DEVOLUTION funds are transforming lives in Chirumanzu District, with the local community already reaping the benefits of projects implemented under the Government’s rural industrialisation agenda.
In line with the Second Republic’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind, the funds have been channelled towards the construction of schools, clinics, bridges, and the rehabilitation of water reticulation systems.
Community members say the impact has been life-changing.
“We can safely say we are witnessing the hand of God in all this. We used to drink unsafe water, but that is now in the past. I want to thank our government for remembering us through this initiative. We are now enjoying the President’s vision,” a community member said.
“The clinic has indeed come in handy in assisting us. We are now enjoying healthcare services at our doorsteps. We used to have problems with expecting mothers who used to deliver in their homes. With this clinic, we can now safely say our deliveries are very safe,” another noted.
The local authority says it will continue to come up with projects that solve community problems.
“This community used to have a problem with the main ZINWA water pipe, which used to be vandalised by illegal miners. We then came up with a plan to help in setting up a solar-powered water project to alleviate the plight,” Mvuma Local Authority’s District Engineer, Engineer Cuthbert Kwera noted.
“The devolution funds have helped us a lot. We have managed to cut our budgets as the funds are really handy. We have witnessed some massive progress in our area as a result of the disbursement of the funding,” Chirumanzu Rural District Council’s CEO, Mr Lovemore Chatikobo said.
Since its inception, the Second Republic has been rolling out people-centred projects aimed at transforming people’s lives for the better as the country gravitates towards becoming an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
