THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has called for the immediate resignation of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) executive committee, citing concerns over governance and administrative issues.
The ZRU is currently under the leadership of acting president, Tapfuma Parirenyatwa, who initially resigned from his position but reversed the decision a week later.
Elected president Losson Mtongwizo remains suspended by the ZRU board following allegations of mismanagement and governance breaches.
Women’s Chairperson Regina Mwanandiwa has also been suspended under similar circumstances.
These developments unfold in the wake of Zimbabwe’s recent qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, casting a shadow over what should have been a celebratory moment for the sport in the country.
