TEENAGE sensation, Prosper Padera, is excited to be part of the senior national team after joining the Warriors in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Benin this Friday.
The 18-year-old put up a show laced with brilliance at the COSAFA senior men’s championship in June after receiving his first national team call-up.
After a successful audition, the Finnish-based midfielder was called up again for the World Cup qualifiers, an opportunity he was eagerly waiting for.
“In June, I think I played well because I was very excited to be called up. I did not expect it, but I told myself that once I get the call, I do not want to be left out again, so I gave my all and it is the same this time again, I will give my all,” he said.
Four years ago, Padera was named player of the tournament at the Marvellous Nakamba Foundation Youth Tournament, and this time he is relishing the prospect to play alongside the national team skipper.
“It is a huge honour to play alongside them, I am learning a lot from Nakamba and Munetsi and all the other players,” Padera noted.
With Andy Rinomhota and Marshall Munetsi unavailable for the Benin encounter, Padera will be hoping to get another chance at the highest level.
