Harare-Mazowe Road dualisation gains momentum

THE dualisation of the Harare-Mazowe Road, a key segment of the ambitious Harare-Angwa-Kanyemba Highway Project, is well on course, with the contractor working diligently along various sections of the route.

Hundreds of workers and a broad fleet of heavy machinery are on-site, operating tirelessly to deliver a modern, dual carriageway that will enhance safety, efficiency, and convenience for all road users.

The dualisation is set to unlock economic development not just in Mazowe district but the rest of Mashonaland Central province, which is linked to the capital via this route.

“I want to thank President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the government for the work that they are doing by developing infrastructure. Road carnage will be reduced on the route, and it will be more convenient to travel,” a motorist said.

“We are witnessing a wonderful thing on the Mazowe road. It will bring convenience not just to us, but the whole Mashonaland Central province,” another weighed in.

“We expect to see more people coming to do business in Mazowe, we have farmers and miners, and some will be attracted by the road,” a resident stated.

Mazowe Acting District Development Coordinator, Mr Joseph Edwards, is confident the project will stimulate massive investment in the area.

“The dualisation of the road is a welcome development as the road will be a corridor of business. Some investors follow the road, so we are expecting business to improve. The district is strong in agriculture, and production will be enhanced through value addition.”

Construction crews are currently focusing on the stretch from Boulevard Road Roundabout to Blue Ridge, with the new carriageway expected to be completed by the end of the year.

In line with the government’s inclusive development thrust of leaving no place behind, dualisation of the road will reach up to Concession turn off, but road works will continue right up to Kanyemba in Mbire district, thereby enhancing development.
