PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says education is a critical tool whose impact extends beyond the success of individuals, to multiple aspects of life encompassing economic growth and social development, hence it should be prioritised.

The President was addressing guests at the ED UNZA golf prize dinner held at the State House in Harare this Friday evening.

Established in 2019 by President Mnangagwa, the ED UNZA Scholarship Trust seeks to give access to underprivileged gifted students to proceed with their education.

After a golf tournament held this Friday, the prize-giving and fundraising dinner saw over US$600 000 being raised for the scholarship.

President Mnangagwa thanked the captains of industry, philanthropists and corporate leaders for their continued support in giving towards the ED-UNZA scholarship.

He reiterated Zimbabwe’s long-standing recognition of education as a powerful means of transforming lives, lifting families out of poverty, and cultivating a skilled workforce capable of advancing the country’s economic development.
