FORMER Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation employee and actor, Fanuel Tonganayi, popularly known as “Firimoni”, has died.
Best known for his comic role in the ZBC drama series ‘Gringo’, Tonganayi died this Wednesday morning after a short illness.
“He was not well for the past three days. So today in the morning he looked like he was recovering and he actually went to see his livestock. He then died the same morning. We are expecting to bury him this Thursday,” family spokesperson, Aleck Komera said.
Firimoni rose to fame through his appearance in the local production.
“Gringo” which brought laughter to screens across the country, often appearing alongside fan favourites like Madhumbe and the late Gringo, cementing his place as one of the era’s most cherished television personalities.
He is survived by his wife, Constancia Mamina.
