FORMER Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva have been buried in a private ceremony at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar Catholic Church in their hometown, of Gondomar, Portugal, this Saturday.

Though buried in a private service, hundreds of people gathered outside the church to pay their last respects to the pair, with others flocking to the church’s cemetery as soon as the barriers were removed, which forced officials to put up barricades again.

Dozens of football figures attended the burial service, including Jota’s Liverpool teammates and several Portugal internationals.

Jota and his brother died after the Lamborghini they were traveling in spun off the road in Northwest Spain and caught fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
