A 25-year-old man from Epworth, who allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl, before forcing her into marriage, has appeared in court on charges of rape.
It is alleged that the accused infected the girl with HIV.
He was remanded in custody pending finalisation of investigations.
In another case, 25-year-old Knowledge Savadye was remanded in custody for allegedly attempting to kill his wife whom he stabbed in the stomach with a knife.
The court heard that the couple had a misunderstanding which led the accused to stab his wife.
She is currently hospitalised with reports indicating that she is in a serious condition.
