THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the death of four people who were allegedly involved in illegal mining activities at Pickstone Mine in Chegutu.
The incident occurred after an unauthorised blast by a group of about 30 illegal miners caused the collapse of an open pit during the early hours of Tuesday.
Earlier, mine owners, Dallaglio Investments, issued a statement confirming the incident.
The company revealed that five individuals were initially trapped by rubble after the unauthorised blast, but one was successfully rescued by the mine’s emergency response team.
