ZANU PF affiliate, Boyz Dza Mdara has conducted a free medical outreach programme in Mutorashanga with the government commending the stakeholder approach in promoting health service delivery.
The free medical outreach conducted was commended by the local community as a crucial intervention amid concerns about limited access to health facilities.
“We want to thank the government for allowing this service. Above all we continue to appeal for more boreholes so that we minimise disease outbreaks when we have access to clean water,” Masango village head, Mr David Mupedzamasango said.
“We have the elderly who cannot walk or travel to the clinics. We commend this move of bringing critical services closer to the people,” Ndengeza village head, Mr Pedziswa Togarepi said.
Medical practitioner Ms Michelle Phiri also spoke on the impact of the initiative particularly for optometry patients.
“We are offering free consultancy and diagnosis to the people. We are also offering discounted specs so that we meet the needs of everyone according to their budgets,’’ she said.
The Government and organiser Boyz dza Mdara say promoting the health sector should be a collective effort.
“Our President Dr ED Mnangagwa always reminds us that nyika inovakwa ne vene vayo so it should be everyone’s responsibility to promote and address community concerns,” Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution deputy director, Mr Tichaona Chiwiro said.
“We mobilised this effort using our own resources and going forward we intend to construct a clinic here in Windsor so that our people do not walk distances to access health services,” Boyz dza Mdara, Mashonaland West Provincial chairperson, Mr Andrew Mugabe said.
Meanwhile the Government is implementing the National Community Health Strategy aimed at ensuring that a health services centre is established at least every five kilometers especially in rural communities.
