ZIMBABWE and Mozambique have taken their strong bilateral relations and economic cooperation to new heights, with collaboration in various sectors, including rail construction, yielding tangible results.

Friday, April 25, marked another significant milestone in the enhanced economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Before officially opening the 65th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), Mozambique’s President His Excellency Daniel Chapo, accompanied by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, toured several stands.

This moment symbolised not only the brotherly ties between the two Heads of State but also demonstrated the progress made in bilateral economic relations.

President Chapo expressed his satisfaction with the flourishing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the rail sector, where significant strides have been made.

“The two countries enjoy cordial relations that date back so many years ago and it is within this framework that today we are speaking of huge milestones that have been earned towards creating prosperous relations between the two countries.

“In rail Mozambique and Zimbabwe are have got an agreement that is set to harness inter-state rail infrastructure through a pact that was signed a few years back,” President Chapo said.

President Mnangagwa spoke of how the ZITF has become a fortress for frank discussions to industrialise Zimbabwe.

”ZITF is proving to be the bedrock for crafting strategies that accelerate Zimbabwe to become an upper middle-income economy,” President Mnangagwa said.

Meanwhile, the two Presidents could not hide their appreciation of the high degree of innovation when they passed through several stands which include the GeoPomona Waste Management Company, ZimTrade, the Embassy of the US and Belarus, while the ZANU PF integrated stand showed how the party is entrenched in different sectors of the economy.
