A Harare man has been slapped with a 30-year jail term by a Harare Court for repeatedly raping his 15-year-old daughter as ‘punishment’ after accusing her of having a sexual relationship with a relative.
Justice has been served for the 15-year-old girl who was raped four times by her biological father.
The girl who suffered at the hands of her father told the court that she lived in constant fear since she was being threatened with death if she revealed the heinous crime.
The man raped the girl as punishment after accusing her of having a sexual relationship with a relative.
The court heard that the father would then rape his daughter whenever they were home alone.
After being subjected to the abuse for some time, the girl confided in her mother who was also afraid to take any action.
However, the mother gathered courage and informed their neighbours of her husband’s action, leading to a police report.
He was convicted on four counts of rape and was sentenced to an effective 30-year jail term.
In a related matter, a 48-year-old man who raped a 13-year-old girl since she was 10 years old has been sentenced to an effective 25-year jail term.
The now-convict took advantage of the child when she went to his house to watch television.
He kept her quiet by giving her money and buying her underwear.
The matter came to light when the girl’s mother noticed that her child had underwear she had not bought and upon quizzing, the girl disclosed the abuse.
